St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Testing Code: 251-424

St. Andrew's Fundamentals
Founded in 1947, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is an independent, coeducational, college preparatory day school serving students in pre-K through grade 12 on two campuses.  St. Andrew’s is known for academic excellence, providing the academic emphasis and cultivating the critical thinking skills needed to excel.  Valuing diversity, St. Andrew’s welcomes students of any race, color, religion, nationality, or ethnic origin.  Typically, 100 percent of St. Andrew’s graduates attend four-year colleges and universities.

About St. Andrew's

Enrollment:  1170 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12; 340 students in the Upper School; 67 students in the Class of 2012.

National Merit Semifinalists:  St. Andrew’s consistently leads the state in the percentage of National Merit Semifinalists.   The Class of 2011 (88 students) included 12 National Merit Finalists, 3 National Achievement Finalists, and 5 Commended Students.  The Class of 2010 (90 students) included 18 National Merit Finalists, more than any other school in the state, and 3 National Achievement Finalists.   In addition, 3 students received Commendations.

Student Life: St. Andrew’s is a close-knit community of students, parents, and teachers of many faiths, cultures, races, and economic backgrounds.  On average, 65 percent of St. Andrew’s students participate in at least one of the school’s 16 sports programs.  Other extracurricular activities include student government, student publications, band, choir, theatre, speech and debate, and other programs of special interest.   Through St. Andrew’s Peer Leadership program, 16 seniors are selected through a highly competitive process to serve as mentors to freshmen throughout the school year.

Presidential Scholars:  St. Andrew’s produced four Presidential Scholars in the last four years.

Honor Code: The St. Andrew’s community is grounded in trust and operates under a strict honor code that is one of the school’s most revered traditions.   The St. Andrew’s Honor Code ensures that students accept responsibility for their conduct and actions, and grants freedom based on trust.  The Honor Council, composed of elected student representatives from each class, chaired by a Senior Honor Prefect, and monitored by a faculty advisor, investigates and adjudicates any violations of the honor code.

Service Learning: In its commitment to molding students of integrity and character, St. Andrew’s requires students to contribute a minimum of 100 hours of volunteer service over the course of their high school careers.

Financial Aid: Based upon the belief that a diverse student body adds important breadth to the educational experience of all its students, St. Andrew’s Episcopal School maintains a substantial commitment to providing financial aid. Any applicant who has been accepted to St. Andrew’s may apply for financial aid based on family need. To be eligible to receive financial assistance, families are required to complete a confidential financial statement, which is sent directly to School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Pittsburgh, PA. SSS analyzes this information and suggests the amount that a family can reasonably afford. Within the limits of available funds, St. Andrew’s provides financial aid grants consistent with the SSS recommendation. Financial aid information and forms are available through the Business Office.
