Insurance (see also 'Employee Benefits')

a) COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL INSURANCE: The school carries insurance to guard against the loss, damage, or theft of its buildings, grounds, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Any detected loss, damage, or theft should be reported to the Director of Facilities or Head of Finance and Administration immediately. The school's insurance also provides liability coverage for all employees for any wrongful act committed in their professional capacity. Personal items of employees on school premises are not covered by the school’s insurance policy. Any loss or damage must be filed against the person’s homeowner’s insurance policy. All employees are discouraged from using valuable personal property at the school, and the school should not be used as a storage place for personal items.

b) AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE: For school-related driving, any employee, parent, or other driver using his/her own vehicle must carry personal automobile liability insurance.

c) STUDENT/ATHLETIC MEDICAL INSURANCE: Medical insurance for students, and participants in the athletic program in particular, is available on a voluntary basis though a local agent. Forms will be distributed through each Division but may also be picked up in the Business Office.

d) WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Workers' Compensation Insurance is provided for all full and part-time employees. Coverage is for all work-related accidents and injuries on or off campus. Any injury or accident must be reported to the Head of Finance and Administration immediately, and a drug test will be required.

e) UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS: St. Andrew's as a "parochial school" is exempt from the requirements of the federal and state unemployment statutes and, accordingly, does not pay unemployment tax on its employees. Therefore, St. Andrew's employees do not qualify for unemployment benefits.
