St. Andrew’s Episcopal School’s Upper School Performing Arts department presented the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific March 3, 4 and 5 in the Center For Performing Arts on the school’s North Campus in Ridgeland. Under the direction by Ray McFarland, musical direction of Libby Walden, and an orchestra conducted by Dennis Cranford, a cast of 42 delighted audiences with their performances of this classic WWII musical 1st performed in 1949. The original production of South Pacific won ten Tony Awards, including best musical, best male performer, female performer, best supporting male performer, best supporting female performer, best director, best book, and best score. In 1950, it won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. |
